Students’ Course Selection System Of Lu’An Vocational Technical College

Educational system in China has undergone in-depth reform ever since late20century. Instead of carrying out universal curriculum arrangement while neglecting students’diversity like the past, nowadays higher education system has developed into combining overall course plan given by college with selective course designed according to students’ interests and individuality. Accompanying the great expansion of college enrollment, the number of students has largely increased. To ensure high education quality and efficient usage of learning resources, the design of students’course selection system with simple operation in distributed network is greatly needed. Based on the current curriculum system and students’ situation of Lu’An Vocational Technical College with several rounds of course selection experience, this thesis successfully develops Apache+My SQL+PHP integrated installation environment. With features of simple operation, strong practicality and convenient management, this system makes online course release and selection, course score release and inquiry, graduation inquiry possible and available.Firstly, this thesis introduces the development technology used in the designed system. Then, overall framework has been developed by analyzing functional requirements of the system. Entity module elements has been found and database has been designed by studying the E-R diagram. Finally, the system successfully develops and tests every module with PHP technology.Based on Windows XP operating system, PHP technology and My SQL database management system, integrated installation environment is developed under WAMP5system. Functional testing and user module testing results shows that the system works well. It greatly improves the work efficiency of educational administration management and offers platform for students to select courses freely according to personal interests and professional features. Therefore, the designed system can reduce the cost of human resource on course selection and alleviate the heavy working load of teaching management.
