With the development of social economy, the phenomenon of crowds gathering in public places is more remarkable. Public stadiums, subway stations and a variety of large-scale exhibition centers are the places where there will be a large number of people. That the crowds are not evacuated quickly and effectively in an emergency will result in very serious consequences. This paper researches the features of small group’s evacuation behavior and animation simulation techniques in the emergency evacuation based on the construction of virtual scene by utilizing virtual reality technology.The main tasks of this paper is divided into the following three aspects:(1) Identify typical psychology, behavior characteristics and attributes of crowds in emergency incident after analyzing the research status and development trends of emergency evacuation simulation platform. Divide the crowds into small groups, and focus on the behavior change rules of some groups.(2) Analyze and compare the current classical path planning algorithms, including Dijkstra and A*path planning algorithm. Realize the crowd evacuation simulation based on A*algorithm with the utilization of2D particles; establish construction algorithm of small groups in evacuation, which will enable the related individuals to plan the paths toward the same exit.(3) Establish3D simulation of small groups evacuation based on OGRE (Object Oriented Graphics Rendering Engine)3D engine. Firstly, introduce the3D physical model into Ogre scene by Blender based on VS platform and set up a simulation scenario of virtual emergency evacuation. Then, display the evacuation of3D virtual humans based on A*path planning algorithm. The3D virtual scene simulation can significantly enhance the reality of virtual simulation.The above-mentioned research and realization will provide the users with a real scene of virtual emergency evacuation, improve their awareness of the evacuation in emergency, and extend the application field of computer animation.
