The optical fiber grating is a new type of passive optical component. It is made by thechanging refractive index when ultraviolet light shines. It owns many unique advantages, suchas lightweight,small size,chemical stability, easy-formed networks,etc.It is becoming theresearching focus for people who study it at home and broad. Now fiber grating sensor iswidely applied in aerospace,navigation,electric power,medical care,large civil engineering,etc. But the nature characters of optical fiber grating have limit in real application. To solvethe problem,the scientists pack the optical fiber grating, put it in the proper package to protectoptical fiber grating and increase sensitivity.The construction of this paper are as follows, firstly, the paper introduces the history andapplication of the optical fiber grating; secondly, on the basis of the Coupling Theory, thepaper introduces the sensing principles of temperature, pressure, strain and tension; thirdly,making a packed china pipe temperature sensor which is made of epoxy resin, a packed chinapipe temperature sensor which is made of silicon rubber, an packed steel pipe temperaturesensor which is made of epoxy resin and a packed steel pipe temperature sensor which ismade of silicon rubber. The paper compares four kinds of sensors as well as the naked fiber;fourthly, the paper proposes making a new type of high-temperature FBG sensor, whosetemperature is from21C~310C, its central wavelength changing volume is1449pm,temperature sensitivity is5pmoCand linear and repetition abilities are really good; then, thepaper proposes a concept of designing a high pressure sensitivity sensor which is notimpacted by diameter pressure. We can get different sensitivities through the changing theangle and packing material; at last, the paper proposes a high sensitivity micro-force sensor.When the micro-force is changing from0to1.666N,the central wavelength changing volumeis1588pm and the sensitivity is0.952nmN, is3times of naked fiber.
