With the expansion of the network size, the structure and type also become morecomplicated. The number and complexity of the client network equipments have alsobeen increased, which obviously increase the administrative workload and difficultyof network operators and managers. So it is also for HFC network operators whoprovide broadband access services to users via Cable Modem. In order to improvenetwork service quality and operational efficiency, network equipments must bedesigned for the efficient and convenient management practices to protect thecommunications network properly and efficiently reduce the operator’s networkoperating costs, improving the customer satisfaction, increasing the operator’scompetitiveness.Based on the BCM3384chip produced by Broadcom, develop Docsis3.0CableModem production with high performance based on eCos system. This productionhave Residential Gateway, WIFI, MTA and MOCA modules.This paper discusses the design and implementation of the managementapplication modules in Cable Modem development process, including developingWeb Server, HNAP functional modules to configure and manage the Cable Modem,effectively improve the user experience, and more to facilitate the management of thenetwork operators.This paper provides detailed test plan for cable modem, and do throughput andmulticast experiments. Test results show that the designed system is running well. Andnew management module will not affect the performance of the entire Cable Modem.
