Microstrip antenna has been very widely used with the characteristics of smallvolume, low cost and ease of integration. However, the surface wave excited by themicrostrip antenna will make the antenna efficiency drops, which will largely affectthe normal use of wireless devices. Therefore, PBG structure can be introduced in themicrostrip antenna, making full use of the characteristics of the PBG structure bandstop to inhibit the surface wave in antenna, which can further improve theperformance of the antenna. This paper researches and analyzes the influence of thevarious parameters to the transmission characteristics in PGB structure, which has agreat significance to optimize its functions.In this paper, the work done is mainly divided into three parts following:Firstly, according to the theory of microstrip transmission line to determine thedimensions of the rectangular microstrip patch, suitable dielectric substrate and theway of feeding has been chose. This paper has also made the correspondingimpedance matching, and a model of a rectangular microstrip antenna has beenpreliminary established.Secondly, the ground type corrosion PBG structure is introduced into therectangular microstrip antenna to suppress the surface wave. Circular and square PBGpore structures were etched on the ground plate of the microstrip antenna, and thispaper discussed the influence of the pore structure, pore spacing, pore size and thenumber of pores to the transmission characteristics of antenna respectively.Thirdly, this paper expounds the basic concepts of fractal theory and methods ofgenerating fractal graphics, and introduces the iteration generation process of theKoch fractal structure, Minkowski fractal structure, the structure of the Sierpinskisquare carpet and the structure of the Sierpinski triangle blanket respectively.1Kochfractal structure,2Koch, fractal structure and1order Minkowski fractal structure,2and3order Sierpinski square blanket structure,2order Sierpinski triangle blanket structure are generated in this paper based on the four kinds of fractal structuregeneration process, and expounds modeling process of the above several types of thefractal structure in detail. Then the several kinds of fractal structures are introducedinto the rectangular microstrip antenna. To optimize the modeling and simulationrespectively in HFSS, and getting the corresponding S11parameter graph. Lastly, thispaper has analyzed the experimental results and study the influence of pore size andpore pitch to the PBG structure microstrip antenna transmission characteristics of thefour kinds of fractal structure introduced.According to the analysis and research, the introduction of the ground typecorrosion PBG structure microstrip antenna does have played a role to suppress thesurface wave and the higher-order modes.While, the inhibitory effect of pore structureof the fractal structure is better than the pore structure of ordinary geometric graphics.
