Digitalization Development Of Chinese Academic Periodicals

As a communicating platform for science and technology information, the academic periodicals play an important role in the science and technology development of our country. The continuously founded academic periodicals in the past century have witnessed the science and technology development in the near history. With the current quick development of science and technology, academic periodical has become an important research task.Digitalization publishing has become the main trend of current publishing industry, and has transformed traditional publishing model into a new publishing environment. In this quick digitalization development background, Chinese academic periodicals are changing their mind and principle, enlarging periodical’s influence and stronger periodical’s brand. The practice has proven that, digitalization publishing has not strangled the traditional publish, on the contrary, it has widened a larger developing space and has become beneficial supplement to traditional publish model. The publishing industry will come to qualitative leap only if we have found the combination of both of them.The digitalization of Chinese academic periodicals is the study object in this paper. The current development situation, features and disadvantages of digitalization development have been described firstly, in order to provide the bases to find solutions. After that, SWOT method was used to analyze the strength, weakness, opportunity and threats of digitalization development of Chinese academic periodicals. Utilize, improvement, surveillance, and eliminate analyzes were made subsequently and respectively. Advices on digitalization transformation were given according to the above analysis. The result showed that, digitalization transformation is not only a challenge, but also an opportunity for Chinese academic periodicals. Chinese academic periodicals and their western peer are standing on the same starting line again, digitalization technique could help us shorten the gap to western academic periodicals, even "corner overtaking"...
