As the most promising technology, PTN can work at access layer. Almost all kinds of services can access to PTN and be transported. PTN provide universal switch technology and support multi-level QOS functions. OTN has large-particles crossing ability and abundant overhead that can guarantee a higher quality of service. Currently, packet services have an explosive development. Its growth rate means massive packet data in future network. PTN and OTN joint networking is the trend, so the study of the mechanism of this joint networking bandwidth adjustment mode, and improve the utilization of OTN pipeline makes sense.In this paper we propose a bandwidth adjustment mechanism based on joint networking of PTN and OTN, which differentiate services by PTN, and distinguish service levels in OTN ring network. PTN technology uses multi-tag technology, so each layer’s label can support QOS. This feature can be used to distinguish the level of traffic converged into OTN ring network. Generally OTN ring provides rigid pipe. This does not fully utilize the bandwidth resource of OTN rings. According to weighting factors allocated to different service level and the ratio of different levels of service, the adjustment mechanism use a control node allocate bandwidth on the ring. It can allocate resources for high-level business preferentially, and ensure that low-level service can be assigned to resources. The adjustment mechanism can achieve fair and distinguish the level of traffic.In this paper, the research’s background is the joint networking of PTN and OTN. We propose a joint bandwidth adjustment mechanism. This paper mainly do the following work:1. Do research on the development of PTN, OTN technology, and the joint networking technology;2. From the perspective of the bandwidth resource optimization, innovatively propose joint bandwidth adjustment mechanism, According to weighting factors allocated to different service level and the ratio of different levels of service.3. Build simulation scenarios of joint network based on OPNET, simulate the above mechanism, and analyze simulation results.
