In recent years, due to the application of cooperative communication technology, the performance of the wireless network can be effectively improved, and thus it is being one of the research hotspots of the wireless communications. The key feature of this technique is to encourage a single antenna device participating in the cooperation by sharing the antenna to create a virtual antenna array, and thereby significantly improve the reception reliability. However, due to their limited processing ability, storage space, battery capacity and other resources, in the absence of compensation mechanisms, network nodes without considering their resource consumption often prematurely exit the network because their own resource is used out, which will certainly affect wireless network performance greatly.Based on this condition, the new concept of selfish index is introduced in this paper innovatively, which is used to simulate and characterize the case that the nodes in the cooperative network have a certain degree of selfishness. And it is applied into the utility function which indicates the degree of benefit received from the cooperative transmissions. On this basis, we propose a power distribution mechanism which can adapt the multi-relay selection, which is based on the utility function. And then provide the energy fairness of the each node in cooperative network. By simulating the power consumption when the nodes are in the case of selfishness, the results illustrate the ability of this mechanism to maximize the lifetime of the network and ensure the realization of the QoS requirements in wireless environment. In addition, the concept of selfishness index is applied further into the sleep mode of the node, and a new wireless cooperative network node hibernation mode is proposed, by using the selfish index into the definition of the hibernation time slot of node. And the results of the simulation on the nodes’power consumption in the hibernation mode show that this program greatly improves the average energy savings percentage of the nodes with higher degree of selfishness, and thus provides a reference idea for a cooperative wireless network to achieve further optimal allocation of resources.
