Due to the high bandwidth requirements and the tension of the existing frequency resources, the next generation mobile communications system is likely to work in more than 3GHz band. The attenuation of the radio signal in high frequency band is much more than that in the current 1 to 2 GHz, so the signal strength of users in the edge of the cell is relatively weak and the data rate they can enjoy is very small.Relay is an effective way to solve that problem. According to the function, relay can be divided into two categories:fixed relay (non-transparent relay) and mobile relay (transparent relay). The fixed relay (non-transparent relay) is mainly used to improve the throughput of users in the edge of the cell. The function of the mobile relay (transparent relay) is to expand the service coverage area. There is no backhaul connection to relay stations, so the network can be easily deployed without any wiring. This makes the wireless relay technology very important in the future of wireless communications. This thesis has analyzed the disadvantage of the current cooperation strategy (Amplify-and-Forward, Decode-and-Forward) and researched a new cooperation method--code cooperation. The bit error rate and outage probability have been evaluated through both theoretical derivation and simulation, and the application has been designed in the fixed relay network. Our conclusion is that compared with the current cooperation strategies, coded cooperation can bring performance improvement.
