LTE protocol stack is the sum of the LTE communication sub-layers protocol, is the specification which can ensure the normal communication of LTE communication system. MAC sub-layer in the research of this thesis is an important part of LTE protocol stack. It is between the RLC layer and PHY layer. MAC sub-layer is in charge of the management and transmission of message signaling and data information, it also plays the role of total control scheduling on PHY sub-layer. The purpose of this paper is to realize the function of LTE MAC layer through the general processor platform instead of the current method implemented on hardware platform. The design of this paper has a guiding significance for the evolution of the communication system in the future. But current software is not designed to process communication signals, so how to make the design not only implement the various functional modules of communication system but also complete the task in high efficiency when the amount of data is large, is a difficult problem today.This paper first relates to LTE system introduction, introduces the content of the LTE protocol stack, and then designs the protocol stack based on the general processor platform. Our paper uses the input/output queue, state machine design, multithreading and socket communication, primitive design method to not only ensure the function of the MAC layer, but also improve the execution efficiency, improve the real-time performance of the system. Finally, it analysis theory and mechanism of LTE uplink MAC sub-layer. Combined with the previous design method, our paper shows the method of every function module and the entire process in MAC sub-layer uplink implementation. Furthermore, the paper tests the time delay of MAC sub-layer functionality in different ways, gives test results in the last.In the end, the full text summarizes the research contents, analyses the harvest in the work, the further work was forecasted, follow-up research directions are discussed.
