Nowadays, the development of television programs has been presented asdiverse and individualized. Their splendid communication content and unique formsendow these programs with unique style and enduring charm. While with the chasefor higher ratings and audience’s eager expectation, competition between TVprograms becomes more and more fierce. How to launch a TV program which has anunique style and become welcome among audience is urgent for creators and directorof TV to think over and deal with.Individualization is the symbol of success for a TV program. It not only meetsthe diverse audiovisual needs of audience, but it also distinguishes from otherprograms. That can directly reflect the difference in survival strategy of the currentTV programs. From reviewing the historical development and analyzing the currentdevelopment situation of TV programs, the individualization and stylization of TVprograms will be the focus of its trend in the future. While in the trend ofindividualization and stylization of TV programs, features and functions of spatialelements will be attached great importance to. The creative design and effectivecombination of spatial elements will exert its influence on promotingindividualization and stylization of TV programs.TV program is an integrate system with complex content and diversecomponents. It can be divided into different elements according to different criteria,such as spatial element, time element, entertainment element, style element, cultureelement, participant element and so on. These various elements of programs canreflect various characteristics and features of this TV program from differentperspectives. Therefore people can have a concrete and direct insight into theconstitution and style through them. Since the essence of television spatial art lies inthe design and creation of visual space, the scenes, props, lights, colors, clothing,making-up are designed and employed around building space and presenting visualattractions. The combination of these factors form a perceptible space in TV programs,therefore these factors can be regarded as spatial elements of TV programs.In this thesis, the part of introduction first discusses purpose and significance ofthe present study, and then explore the current status of research and finally explainresearch ideas and organization if this thesis. Part one focuses on the spatialcharacteristics of TV programs and constitution of spatial elements in a TV program.The author studies spatial elements from the perspective of spatial art of television,and reveals the importance of external form of TV programs through the dialecticalrelationship between content and form. And the author tries to explain constitutionand function of spatial elements from the view of modern system theory, so as toconstruct the rationality and feasibility of studying spatial elements of TV programs.The second part of the thesis discusses the phenomenon of “Space Revolution” through studying the current status and trend of TV programs recent years, exploresits origin and causes of its formation, trying to evaluate its current status andanticipate its future development. Part three discusses how to creatively set spatialelements in a TV program and explores its corresponding principles and ideas ofspatial design from the operational level. The fourth part of the thesis states thepursuit in practical function and aesthetic function of the design of spatial elements.In the end of this thesis, the deficiencies of current spatial settings of TV programs arepresented, and the comprehensive and dialectical attitudes towards creative design ofspatial elements in TV programs are advocated.
