The Suspense Of TV Column

Suspense as an important artistic technique, is often widely applied to variouscategories of art, which can be seen everywhere from the movie to painting. However,there is a big difference for the way of its presentation in the different categories of art. Inliterary works, the suspense is an extremely important method of narrative, whichmotivates readers to be immersed in the text and to experience the pleasure of reading. Inthe film, suspense even become the symbol of genre films. Similarly, in the television art,suspense is also a kind of important artistic skill that cannot be ignored. Due to theattribute of mass media for TV and the particularity of audience watching situation, so theprocess of enjoying usually use family as a unit. Relatively loose psychological state andviewing habits makes TV people must seriously consider how to attract the audience’sattention better and make its constant attention in the production process. In this sense,the suspense is extremely important to TV, so it is necessary to make in-depth analysis inthe context of TV.Suspense in the traditional narrative study, is not fresh topic. In the image narrativeis becoming more and more attention at present, represented by television audio-visualintegrated arts, has become indispensable in People’s Daily life with art. Suspensequestion discussion, in the context of television to carry on the reconsideration anddiscussion become inevitable problems, especially the progress in the research in the fieldof drama is relatively obvious, but the analysis of certain factors in the TV program isobviously insufficient. This paper draws on relevant mature method in the field oftelevision art, using the method of case study, through TV program for different types ofspecific case analysis, to dig the suspense in the television art common presentation aswell as the formation of art of TV suspense of the main technique.This article states the suspense of TV program from three parts. In the first part, theauthor enumerates some relevant theories with suspense, and then expounds thetheoretical background of suspense, its common existence in different type of art and itsmeaning. In the second part, the author organizes and makes a conclusion to the definitionof suspense. Based on this, the author expounds that TV program plays important role inthe following5aspects: drawing attention, increasing awareness, strengthening theexcitant, mobilizing participation, popularizing knowledge. The third part is focused onthe main presentation of suspense in different types of TV program and the main artisticmethod to set suspense. The author hopes to find out the common regularity of suspensein a related TV phenomenon through the analysis of TV program in order to develop thetheoretical analysis of television art and helps make TV program.
