With the rise of the network business, a surge of traffic demand based on the spectrum of the wavelength allocation has encountered the bottleneck of network capacity and utilization rate of resources, the future networks need a finer, more flexible way of spectrum resource use and allocation. Elastic optical network (EON) has been proposed as a spectrum efficient networking technology that effectively supports dynamically varying traffic demands. However, the separation control and structure of IP layer and optical layer separation has caused great waste of network resources. To solve the problem and challenge, in this paper, SDN-based control optimization technology of the combination of IP network and optical. network has been studied. The SDN-based combination control of IP network and optical network architecture has been proposed, especially in the elastic optical networks. By extending the PCEP, OpenFlow Protocol and GMPLS, we set up an experimental testbed, and experiment results verify the feasibility of the network architecture. And proposed an optimization routing and spectrum allocation algorithm, which improves the utilization of the resources in the network and optimize the performance of IP network and optical network.In this paper, SDN-based control optimization technology of the combination of IP network and optical network is studied, the main research and work is listed as follows.(1)The development of combination of IP network and optical network technology has been summarized. The implementation of SDN in optical network has been researched. (2) In-depth research of the advantage of elastic optical network and its development direction. Two kinds of the SDN based elastic optical networks architecture has been studied. For large scale multi-domain elastic optical networks, we propose a combination of distributed and centralized control architecture (DC-CA) based on stateful hierarchical PCE.(3) SDN-based combination control of IP network and optical network architecture has been proposed. The architecture is based on the stateful hierarchical PCE. By extending the PCEP, OpenFlow Protocol and GMPLS, we set up an experimental testbed, and experiment results verify the feasibility of the network architecture.(4) Within the combination network architecture, the RSA optimization algorithm based on virtual topology has been proposed. Under the basic routing and spectrum allocation algorithm, combined with the flexibility spectrum characteristics of elastic optical network, network resources in the IP layer and optical layer has been optimized with the optimization algorithm, so as to the performance of the network.
