Research On Objective Speech Quality Assessment

Modern communication systems provide a wide range of voice services. Voice communication has become an. integral part of the life. Development of communication technology and communication services promotes the need of the evaluation for performance of communication system. One of the fundamental signs judging the merits of the voice performance in communication system is good or bad voice quality of the system output. So accurate and effective voice quality assessment is the key technology of improving communication system performance.1. The paper classifies the existing and important factors of objective speech quality evaluation algorithm. It analyzes and designs the important factors of general-purpose algorithm to lay the foundation for subsequent research.2.The paper puts up three functional blocks including "basic speech pre-treatment"," voice channel analysis and unnatural speech " and "additive noise". In addition, the paper puts up three main types of distortion:(1) voice channel analysis and unnatural speech including men channel, female channel and strong machine voice,(2) strong additive noise analysis including low static SNS (background noise) and the lower portion SNR (noise associated with signal envelope),(3)interruption, mute and time clipping. Calculated points will be compared with perceived quality by people using the appropriate phone. The experimental results show that the objective evaluation result of this algorithm is consistent with human subjective perception.
