The MIIT(Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) has officially issued a fourth-generation mobile communications business license to the Chinese top3operators:China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom, which marks Chinese telecom industry entering into4G era formally. It’s no doubt that the mobile Internet will be accelerated a lot under the new generation of4G. Operators are facing more collection fusion. Based on IMS and multimedia integrated service capabilities of the next-generation network interacting, operators will get a huge space while maintaining and increasing market share.4G allows voice, data, multimedia and other business becomes more mobile, more efficient and more convenient.In this environment, the group management features as the basic operational capacity, their needs and applications will increase. Most of the services and platforms will need to use the group management capabilities, contact list functionality to meet the basic needs of communication needs and access to information. Groups server can provide flexible group management functions, not only to provide basic group management functions, the high cohesion, low coupling modular design principles are to meet users’needs of different kinds of group management. In addition to the expandation of basic group server’s group management capabilities, it adds plug and play multiple modules, such as aggregationproxy module, the message queue module, fully meet requests of differentenvironment, service s and preferences.In-depth study of the IMS technology, associating group server protocols and technologies involved was the first part of this paper.Thenbegan from the requirement, summed up thebasic functional characteristics of groupservershould have. Third, It was done that the overalldesign and module design from a business perspective on the ability of thegroup server, providing a detailed interface protocol, at the same time designed the processing schedule according to the business requirements. Next, followed by the detailed design and implementation for each core module of the group server, it’s elaborated that thecore technologies on the various modules and the problems encountered besides the solutions to these problems.On the whole,this system achieved a unified contact list management, XML Document Management, news subscriptions and other functions. Meanwhile the group server could also provide external interfaces (XCAP interface and SIP interface), which could provide basic services for other complex services and applications. Finally, a test is conducted for the group server, besides writing test cases and test results under functional testing. Finally, it provideda basis for further improvement direction of these problems found in the system tested.
