Research On Network Topology Discovery Based On Netmagic

NetMagic is a programmable switching platform oriented innovativeexperiments and teaching design of network technology. Researchers canprogram FPGA inside the NetMagic platform and design relevant experimentsaccording to research needs.To reduce the complexity of the hardwaredevelopment,NetMagic defined the specifications of UM,and researcherssimply need to achieve hardware logic of the relevant experiments accordingto UM interface.Hardware code and the functions of the other module hasbeen cured,only need to call.Network topology discovery is one of the core content of the Internettechnology research,has great significance in the sub-network managementand network security assessment.Through the research on NetMagicexperiment platform,puts forward a kind of network topology disvoveryalgorithm based on NetMagic,Describes the network topology discoveryalgorithm theory, the definition of detection and response packets in anEthernet frame encapsulation format, in the case of simple topology andcomplex topology of the simulation algorithm. Simulation results demonstratethe feasibility and effectiveness of the algorithm logic.Based on UM hardwaredevelopment model of NetMagic,the network topology discovery scheme inhardware design,code for comprehensive simulation in Modelsim10.1d andlogic analyzer waveformare given,simulation results are obtained to meet therequirements of the design algorithm of the hardware scheme.The main workis done as follows:1）The definition of NMAC protocol and command encapsulation formatfor communication between software and hardware.2）Adopt the design idea of forwarding and control architecture of theSeparation,on the hardware control to software-defined networking way.3）The paper presents a NetMagic based network topology discoveryalgorithm,the algorithm is validated by simulation the feasibility and validityof logic.4）The paper presents a hardware design scheme based on UM,gives thedetailed design of the S_UM module,including the data structure andsimulation waveform. In summary, Research on network topology discovery algorithm andhardware scheme based on NetMagic,Which not only provides the regulardata-processing and analyzing function, but also supports various networkexperimental scenarios, all of those above plays a significant role in promotingapplication of NetMagic in network innovation.
