High temperature is one of the important reasons causing the fire in power system.Therefore, the early warning could be told by monitoring the temperature and effectivemeasures could be taken. The corresponding accidents will be reduced.The optical fibersensing technology is an emerging, multidisciplinary high-tech applicationstechnology.Sensing technology as the core of large equipment health monitoring is becomingan important research direction. Compared with traditional sensors, the fiber Bragg gratingsensor has the advantages of small volume, light weight, implantable structure, reusable andno electromagnetic interference, and thus becomes one of the best core sensor equipment inhealth monitoring applications. In all kinds of optical fiber sensor, due to the long-termmonitoring adapted to the harsh environment, the optical fiber Bragg grating sensor will beone of the most promising alternatives to electric type sensor.In this paper, the transformer winding temperature monitoring system based on opticalfiber bragg grating includs three parts:temperature monitoring program based on theLabVIEW programming language,build a fiber Bragg grating wavelength demodulationmodule acquisition system and FBG temperature sensor.When the ambient temperature aroundthe transformer windings changes, the central wavelength of the fiber Bragg grating changesaccordingly. Broadband ASE light source emits and transmits the light from the opticalcirculator into the fiber Bragg grating, the reflected light gets into the wavelengthdemodulation module again through the optical circulator.Wavelength demodulation modulecould transmit the center wavelength of the spectral reflectance information, peak powerinformation to the computer. The computer analyzes and processes the information by callingthe LabVIEW program.Computer could get the processing data of the demodulation moduleby calling the LabVIEW program and display the data with XY graph. The program can getcenter wavelength values at the same time then get temperature by fitting function and displaytemperature on the front panel of the program.
