With its strong controllability, high reliability and good openness, fieldbustechnology has been widely used in modern industrial control field. But thecoexistence and competition of various bus standards have brought muchinconvenience to the users. The ethernet functions that are able support TCP/IPprotocol have become more perfect. The application of Ethernet TCP/IP networkcan be seen in every corner of the society. The combination of fieldbustechnology and ethernet technology has become an inevitable trend of socialdevelopment.A multi-protocol converter has been studied in this paper, which is based ondeep research of the fieldbus protocol and Ethernet TCP/IP protocol. The dataconversion of multiple fieldbus protocol and Ethernet TCP/IP protocol in asystem has been realized. CAN bus protocol, Modbus protocol, Profibus-DP busprotocol and RS232serial communication protocol have been adopted in thispaper.The method by receiving, unpacking, packing and sending the data packetshas been used to achieve protocol data conversion in the paper. The core boardand backplane design of protocol converter have been completed in the hardwaredesign part. The minimum system board of ARM9chip has been used as the coreboard, which includes storage systems, power supply circuit, reset circuit, clockcircuit. The backplane includes Ethernet interface circuit, CAN bus interfacecircuit, Modbus bus interface circuit, Profibus-DP modular circuit, RS232interface circuit, LCD and touch screen interface circuit. In the aspect of software,the transplant of embedded Linux operating system on the hardware platform hasbeen completed, including the transplant of porting U-Boot, the transplant andconfiguration of Linux kernel porting and the transplant of file system; the driveprogram of CAN bus device was completed and was loaded into the kernel successfully; the design of each bus protocol module procedures and the designof protocol conversion program was completed; the data conversion test betweenTCP/IP protocol and RS232protocol was realized; the HMI function design ofmulti-bus protocol converter was realized by means of Qt,including the design ofwelcome interface while starting up, the design of user login interface, the designof protocol conversion selection interface, parameter configuration interface, etc.The experimental results show that, the multi-protocol converter designed inthe text has a wealth of communication interface and can complete the protocolconversion function, has friendly human-computer interface. It runs stability,meets the desired design requirements, has a good practicability and applicationprospect.
