IPMC (Ion-exchange polymer metal composite) is a kind of novel artificial intelligent materials. It has a lot of good properties, such as light weight, good flexibility, easily cut in any size and shape, and generating a large displacement when applied a low drive voltage, on the other hand, it also will generate weak awareness charge when IPMC has bending deflection with mechanical stimulation. For this reason, people hope to design a micro force sensor based the IPMC property of force perception, and that will be of great significance in the fields of micro force control and biological medical. This paper systematically elaborates a kind of basic ideas and methods of micro force sensor based on the fundamentals of sensors.Firstly, this paper introduced fundamental characteristics of artificial intelligent materials IPMC. We prepared IPMC according to the method of chemical plating, and deduced the relationship between bending deflection and sensing voltage in view of the relationship between IPMC perceiving voltage and moisture content with the application of Lab VIEW software. We also got the model of the IPMC deformation and voltage by curve fitting with MATLAB. Besides, we deduced the model of force applied to IPMC and deformation based on cantilever beam theory. So on this basis of the relationship of sensing voltage and deformation and the relationship of deformation and applied force, we knew the model of IPMC micro force sensor.Secondly, signal processing circuit is designed for the process of weak electrical signals in the sensor circuit. Signal disposal circuit include, charge sensitive preamplifier, voltage amplifying circuit, low-pass filter circuit and logarithmic amplifier used to extend the sensoer’s dynamic range.Then, we did some work about digital signal filtering with the multiresolution of wavelet transform based on DSP system by MATLAB wavelet transform. This paper applied TMS320F2812DSP system to implement A/D transformation of sensor circuit voltage signal, wavelet filtering and liquid crystal display on LCD1602.At last, we set up a test platform to detecting the property of IPMC micro force sensor, and got the practical model, and simultaneously finished the calibration of sensitivity, resolution and linearity of sensor.
