The Visual Analysis Of Court Data

As a member of the sports science research, data analysis and research of competitive sports directly affects the development of competitive sports, promotes the development of sports system and guides the direction of competitive sports. Court visualization is a way that using graphics to represent the abstract data of competitive sports, which help people to make sense of the abstract information in court by visual methods.Court visual analysis aims to help fans to understand the competition situation, help coaches and game analysis is to understand the details of the game and the performance of players and team in visual way. After studied visual analysis of competitive sports based on the statistical data and based on extended data, such as the geographical position, we found that there are few researches focus on both the overview of the game and the details of the game.In order to display and analyze the data of NBA, this paper presents visual analysis based on the event-flow and data visualization based on the novel statistical analysis.(1)Visual analysis based on event-flowWe propose an event-flow graph layout algorithm including event-flow view, court view, and analytic view. In the event-flow view and court view, we focus on displaying flow of events and keeping an eye on further details of game as well. In the analytic view, we implemented a single-player analysis, multi-player analysis to provide the analytical basis. In addition, we implemented interactive methods like filtering, multi-views linking, dragging, and hovering, allowing users to use the event-flow diagram more easily.(2) Visual analysis based on a new statistical dataAfter we got player tracking dataset of NBA, we propose visual analysis about player tracking dataset, the player efficiency and shoot type of teams. Finally, we evaluate the visual analysis approaches by investigating real-world NBA matches. Several use cases and findings illustrate the capabilities of our approach.
