From the point of business application analysis, the bandwidth is the crucial problem for thedevelopment of next generation network. Only have realized high-speed broadband, nextgeneration Internet, a new generation of mobile communications, the Internet of things, cloudcomputing could get great development. EPON is a point-to-multipoint optical access networkwhich deploys the tree topology configuration of passive optical network and Ethernet signal tosupport multiservice transition.EPON not only has impressive cost performance, but also providesreliable data, voice and video services for terminal users.As the bandwidth of EPON surpassesother existing access network technologies, it is considered the optimal solution for thenext-generation broadband optical access network technology.A typical EPON system isconstituted by OLT,ODN and ONU.Firstly, the system composition, working principle and key technology of EPON areexpounded in this thesis. Secondly, the planning design of FTTH system including OLT, ODNplanning, and ONU equipment are researched mainly, as well as model planning of applicationscenarios. On this basis, both guarantee the sophistication and effectiveness of design system, andensure economy, practicality and the principle of practical, combined with the current commercialmature EPON equipment, the overall FTTH solutions of the Tianmen Metro5are designed.Finally, the feasibility of design scheme is discussed from the equipment configuration, equipmentnetworking, more business, line access, and engineering resource use, and some references areprovided for subsequent designs of optical fiber to the home adopting various PON technologies,and have played a positive promoting role in the application of EPON technology in localnetwork.
