Since1900, human’s life went through dramatic changes, communication technology playeda leading role in this period of time. Satellite communication occupies special status incommunication area for its outstanding advantages: its biggest feature lies in its position in outerspace, its very existence greatly expanded communication to aeronautics and astronautics space,it plays as a giant converter and switching facility in space. With the advent and rapiddevelopment of high speed digital signal processing technology, communication satellite iscapable of realize voice, fax, video, Internet, satellite TV broadcast and military classifiedinformation transmission. With its highly sophisticated integration of cutting-edgeadvancements in scientific scope, it gains great application in many situations and has littlerestrictions both in environment and geography conditions. Large amounts of military andcommercial satellite communication devices emerged increasingly, the research anddevelopment of satellite communication terminal was a characteristic part in this entire chain ofsatellite communication. There are various sort of satellite communication terminal in use, suchas airborne terminal, seaborne terminal and vehicle dynamic terminal which obtained wideutility in modern life.This thesis is focused on the research of flat antenna mounted on airborne satellitecommunication terminal. Satellite communication terminal is the ground module unit of thewhole satellite communication system, it’s a kind of comprehensive communication terminal,which has multiple functionality and be able to establish connection swiftly with satellite. Thisthesis has done extensive research on the modeling and designation of flat antenna installed onairborne satellite communication terminal, the main aim is to design a multi-function flat antenna.This flat is easy to manufacture and cost little. Its main component is waveguide which hasexcellent performance and very small phase shift. The total flat antenna was separated into threelayers, the combination and split of identical components is important, then comes to the settingof related parameters. The entire flat antenna is composed of three different layers, powerdistribution layer, circle waveguide layer, cube horn layer. In the course of the designation, a45degree turning structure was introduced to guarantee the coherence of signal phase. Relatedvariables were completely tested and optimized using adaptive scanning method, a fine basicunit has been chosen eventually, at last the gross layer was finished. Based on this concept, the three layers flat antenna was completed.
