Temperature is an important parameter for the operation of the power systems,fire which leads to terrible accident and affect people’s life and production willappear when electric devices, cables and contracts is overheat. Monitoringtemperature of key parts in the power systems can discover fire in time, cut losses,and also help engineer get information about the situation of power grid andfacilitated the maintenance the power grid. At present, failure rate of the powergrid in China is higher than developed countries, The main reason is that we can notefficiently monitor the temperature of the whole grid. With the development of thepower grid, it is an inevitable trend that electric devices will become intelligent,digital and networked. So how to implement temperature monitoring on line is a spotrecently.In this paper, on the basis of the power system temperature research status, theFPGA and ARM9-based real-time bulk fiber grating sensor demodulation system isdesigned and implemented. The system using the characteristics that fiber gratinghas a strong immunity to electromagnetic interference, and the temperature in a widerange has a good linear relationship with wavelength of fiber grating reflectionwavelength. The hardware design of the system select S3C2410and EP1K50as themain chips. And S3C2410chip use the WINCE as its operating system. This papermainly focuses on the algorithm of signal detection, wavelength demodulation,transmission delay compensation, wavelength transform to temperature. Achieve thefunctions that alarm and monitoring the temperature of the terminals of high voltageswitch cabinet on–line through the long-term detection experiments. Finally, verifythe feasibility of measuring temperature through fiber grating. Meanwhile, it provesthat this system has excellent stability and reliability.
