With the rapid development of modern electronic information technology, a plenty of modern electronic information equipment are used in the battlefield, which making the battlefield a highly complex battlefield electromagnetic environment. Simulation of complex electromagnetic environment has became a hot issues on battlefield information research, most simulation softwares face many problems, the most concerned problem is simulation speed. This paper proposed a new simulation system using parallel and distributed computing (MapReduce) technology and ray tracing optimized algorithm to improve the efficiency of simulation.The main purpose of this paper is to improve the simulation speed in complex electromagnetic environment. First, study the basic theory and principle of parallel computing and the existing distributed framework like WCF and MapReduce technology. Then this paper designed and realized the the communication procedure between the client side and the server side, and Server control procedure like task assignment and result combination based on these technologies, which provided the basic architecture of the system.Second, optimizing the simulation module to improve the calculation speed, the system used ray tracing algorithm to calculate. First, analyze the theory of the ray tracing algorithm, Then through the study of ray tracing calculation formula of field strength, ray tracing process for each radiation source is independent each other, the total field strength at the receiver is a joint action by the various radiation sources, theoretically electromagnetic simulation shows parallelization features, which provides a theoretical basis for distributed computing. Then the optimized ray tracing algorithm based on terrain division is proposed through analyzing the factors which affect the calculating efficiency. This method can reduce the intersection calculation numbers between the ray and terrain, thereby reducing the time of calculating intersection operation. The results showed that an average of16times the computational efficiency is improved. Besides, Combined with the use of multi-threading technology the parallelization of ray tracing is improved. In this paper, the design idea of ray tracing optimization algorithm and analysis of time and space efficiency complexity are given.Last, simulation test cases were designed to verify the effect of optimization algorithms and verify the validity and correctness of the distributed simulation calculations by comparing the measured data and simulation data.
