District Heating System (DHS) as an important municipal infrastructure, has been developed rapidly and wide application. With the development of Internet of things (IOT) technology, digital control systems are applied. Monitoring and alarming through sensors is currently the main way. In this way, alarming is fired by a single numerical comparison. However, the daily heating system monitor often requires the analysis of cooperative multiple collection. Furthermore, the traditional system cannot analyze the data in a period. Complex event processing (CEP) technology regards data as events, and carries on the analysis of event stream. The application of CEP can makes the system more intelligent. Therefore, the current paper proposed a complex event processing based monitoring alarm system. The current paper firstly introduced its research background and the significance of the study, briefly described the problems of the existing heating system and the importance of the monitoring alarm system in the heating system, and analyzed the feasibility of service-oriented architecture based event-driven monitoring alarm system. The current paper analyzed the general needs of the system based on actual industry research findings. Key issues were analyzed and corresponding solutions were proposed. Based on the key technical solutions mentioned above, the current paper explained the outline design of the system. The system is event-driven and service-oriented. Sensor data as events access the system, and we redesign the original heating monitoring alarm system with the CEP technology. Then, the current paper discussed the application of CEP in this system, including the definition of events and event flow, event hierarchies, event rules, event operations and event processing language. And then it explained CEP technology application in this system by specific examples. In the next part, the current paper described the detailed design of distributed monitoring alarm systems and procedures of each functional module. Then it presented system functional testing and performance testing. At last, this paper provided the conclusions of the current study and recommendations on improvements for future research.
