In recent years, mobile data service of smart phone has become a major profit growth point of mobile system operators in3G period. Different from traditional data service in2G systems, due to fast proliferation of smart phones, some new characteristics which can be summarized into small-size packets, short-duration connections and long-time activities apprears. These characteristics mainly increase traffic connection times between base station and mobile station. However, throughput in traffic channel increased little and massive signaling may be produced in control channel. This may cause some serious problems in mobile networks.This paper analyzes performance of3G mobile system based on mobile data service and takes QQ, microblogging, WeChat and YoungChat as the principal thing. The above service has some new characteristics and traditional data models cannot describe them well. To improve the reliability of our analysis, this paper adopts the method of real-time grabbing originality and completes modeling of typical data service. In addition, this paper analyzes different data traffic based on data packets statistics.This paper sets a typical3G system, CDMA2000lx EV-DO, as an example and evaluates its performance under the mobile data service operation. Considering performance of traffic channel in3G mobile systems is discussed widely, however, little if not none of previous research focus on control channel. We adopts system level simulation as the research method, set real-time data packets as data sources and simulats the practical operation of EV-DO system considering paging, access and MACIndex assigning. Our output results not only contain system throughput, but also performance of control channel such as paging success rate, access success rate.Especially in light of the present condition of increasing user numbers, this paper adds multi-user scenarios. The reason of mobile data service impacts mobile systems will be summerized after simulation results which has already been verified correctly by two ways. Meanwhile, in response to the current situation, this paper attempts to propose some technical improvement methods of control channel. The paper provides an instructive method to not only future performance research of other3G systems, but4G systems’research as well.
