With the rapid growth of the Internet user request and network size, the Internet has become an important infrastructure of society, its importance is self-evident. If in the early development of the Internet network security, network quality of service requirements are not very stringent network indicator, today the Internet has penetrated into all key areas, we must require their services are of high quality, high reliability, high security. Therefore, many scholars committed to the alternate future networks start their research network. As one of future "clean-slate" networks architecture, the proposal of NDN (Named Data Networking) concept is undoubtedly the subversion of current IP protocol centric network. NDN suggested the substantial change of existing IP networks for its current deficiency, like bandwidth, security, quality of service, meeting the needs of users and other aspects--content-centric alternative to the IP layer, while retaining its slender frame, routing-forwarding separation advantages, becoming current leader in future network research. This paper firstly describes the current status and limitations of IP Internet, and introduces several different research directions. Secondly, we presents the detail of NDN network architecture, including the node type, protocol packet types, information processing, key technologies and research focus. On this basis, according to the default routing mechanism of NDN, the paper proposes corresponding improvement:the first one is adaptive routing mechanism with a better improvement of network transmission speed, and transmission time, stability, and so on. The routing mechanism based on ant colony algorithm does not have problems like converge early or congestion with a good play to reduce network latency; making improvement of network performance. Then, three questions were answered about caching mechanism and we proposes some improvement of the scheme. Experimental results show that the improved random replacement policy for the network is relatively of large performance advantages, and improves the quality of the network.
