Accompanied with development of mobile Internet and increasing demand of big data business, users’desire to access broadband network to communicate at anytime and anywhere in any format is greatly promoted. Therefore to satisfy the increasing demand the next-generation access network is facing great challenges. Currently optical fiber and wireless access are two common access technologies. Optical fiber access-networking is capable of providing high bandwidth, low bit error rate, strong anti-electromagnetic interference and so on. But there are also some disadvantages such as fixed transmission path and poor flexibility: Wireless access networking is capable of providing users with highly flexible and ubiquitous access, but due to self-features, the wireless transmission speed is limited and susceptible to interference. Both optical fiber and wireless access networking have a rather good development trend in each field, but the main problem is how to satisfy the users’ increasing demand and complement each other to provide cost-effective services combined the two methods. Currently, the technique of fiber-wireless access network is one of the global researches and developing hotspots, one of the most characteristic is FiWi (Fiber-Wireless) access network which is based on wireless Mesh network and PON (Passive Optical Network). Although the fiber-wireless access network has attracted lots of attention with pretty good prospect, there are still some technical problems to be solved. The proposal of network virtualization technology happens to give a solution to the problems and to resolve the logjam occurred to Internet on technique innovation. ISP (Internet Service Provider) is decoupled into two separated parts:InP (Infrastructure Provider) and SP (Service Provider), achieving the real sense of the separation of control and forwarding.First of all, this paper will talk about the background and significance of this topic, analyzing the developing demand of current network and introducing the challenges that next-generation access network is facing. Meanwhile, this paper elaborates the research progress of the next-generation access network including next-generation wireless access network and next-generation optical access network. The inevitable converged development trend of next-generation fiber-wireless access network will be introduced analytically. The research emphasizes on FiWi access network and through applying the network virtualization technology to get out from the dilemma of current access network development. In ChapterⅢ, we put forward the access network structure in which fiber-wireless access network, together with the FiWi network virtualized model in conjunction with specific multi-path access problems detailing on the applications on network virtualization technology and the workflow of virtualized resource controller. In Chapter IV, we mainly test the networking verification of the performance of multipath in FiWi network based on network virtualization. The isolation among virtualized networks and global view of controller are verified through OpenFlow switch networking. Simulation about the network performance of FiWi multipath access is also carried out. In the end, we summarize the entire involved works and foresee the development of future network.
