VMware ESXi is the best server level virtualization product in the world, with the upgrading of VMware ESXi, which will be native supported for more and more hardware devices and features. And drivers will be required for supporting these devices, which VMware will be responsible for developing and testing on those drivers. The emergence of PCIe SSD device interface, it is whipped up in the storage industry. VMware announced that from the beginning of VMware ESXi2013Release will support PCIe interface SSD devices.Software testing which plays a very important role in the life cycle of software development, the most important work is to verify and confirm. In order to be called a product and put into the market for using, a software must be done after a detailed and complete software testing.In this paper analysised and designed the PCIe SSD driver mtip32xx-native testing which supported by VMware ESXi2013Release, carried out driver requirements analysis and test cases designing, to ensure that the software product supports the usage of hardware devices and to achieve the best performance and reliability.During the test case designing, several excellent third-party disk testing tools brought a huge help for achieving the purpose of the test. Meanwhile, in order to simplify the testing process, severe log checking test scripts which can reduce the workload effectively of manually testing developed in this paper also.Paper started with the perspective of software testing to learn and understand the purpose and methods in the testing of software, and then made a goog understand of the functions and features of this driver. Driver are divided into a few functional modules by black-box testing methods, design test cases accordance with the methods and processes of software testing.Based on the above work, this paper focused on mtip32xx-native driver load and stress test requirement analysis and test cases designing. During the process of designing, the principles and methods of software test case design has been observed, and strive to achieve higher test coverage and reducing the redundancy rate of testing.
