The Software Quality Management In The Agile Project Of Outsourcing To Japan

Business of software outsourcing to Japan is rising greatly in the recent decade, but its resultsare unsatisfactory. Differences in language, cultures and rules cause a wide range of problems inthis field. Take agile development as an example. Even when it is accepted by both of Chineseentrepreneurs and its Japanese correspondents, different requirements will stick the softwaredevelopments. Besides, the wide gap in the quality management also challenges Chineseentrepreneurs. Under such a circumstance, it becomes crucial to have a thorough study of softwarequality management in outsourcing to Japan.CMM is the most widely-accepted theory of modification in the process of softwaredevelopment at present. It has a good control of software quality in structure but its strict processcontrol also keeps the small and medium-sized entrepreneurs at bay. The agile project is adept inobtaining software products of high quality without long-winded processes, which is a weakness ofCMM. But the agile project is not good at management and institutional affairs, which areemphasized by CMM.Different emphases of the agile project and CMM do not mean that they are in conflict. Theirstrengths can be singled out and combined to put into practice to help improve softwaremanagement. Hence, this thesis aims to provide possible ways to perfect the process of agiledevelopment and improve the quality of software management with the help of CMM. In order toachieve the study goals, this thesis firstly make comparisons on the similarities and differencesbetween the agile project and CMM on the basis of their own theories respectively. Then, itproposes a concept of modification of agile development through CMM for better services tooutsourcing to Japan. Lastly, it exemplifies with an ongoing outsourcing project to Japan inC-company the benefits of combination of agile development and CMM to prove the rationality andpracticability of such a management approach, and to propose instructive advice to existingproblems in the process of implementation as well.
