In recent years, with the rapid development of wireless communication technology, theminiaturization of electronic devices has become a very important issue. Especially in microwavecommunications, although with the rapid development of microwave integrated circuits, activemicrowave circuits such as amplifiers are more compact, but for the miniaturization of microwavewaveguide filters researching and designing, same deficiencies still exist, especially the bottleneckof the miniaturization of the satellite communication device is the miniaturization of the waveguidefilter. Therefore, the study of high-performance, miniaturized waveguide filter is very popular topicof concern currently. This thesis mainly studies the principles and techniques of the miniaturization of waveguidefilter, and the main content of the work are as follows:Firstly, the basics of a rectangular waveguide cavity is introduced, and the resonant frequencyand the quality factor Q are two mainly performance indicators that measures the quality of theresonator performance. As this basis, cascade of waveguide cavity filters, application ofcross-coupling techniques and degenerate mode waveguide filter are introduced.Secondly, three dual-mode waveguide bandpass filters are designed using the degenerate modetechnology, and two modes (TE102/TE301) are achieved within a rectangular waveguide resonator,so the resonator is called the degenerate mode resonator. Using this resonator, out-bandtransmission zeros can be generated, the position of transmission zero can be controlled throughrational design of cavity size, while the purpose of reducing size can be achieved. Finally, after adding a rectangular ridge resonator to the waveguide resonator, cross-couplingcan be realized, generating the transmission zeros. Also, by varying the basic parameters of theridge rectangular resonator and its relative position to the waveguide cavity, the position oftransmission zeros can be changed, and the purpose of reducing the size of the waveguide filter canalso be achieved.
