In recent years, with the continuous development of optical communicationtechnology. High power fiber laser, which achieve single-mode fiber, output near1064nm, has been fast developed and applied in the field of military, medical, opticalcommunication, material processing, laser printing, laser spectrum detection. With thecontinuously improvement of laser output power, optical path must be applied in highpower fiber collimator for high power laser focused and output. In the traditional fieldof fiber communication system, using optical fiber collimator is low power, whichpower handing peak usually under500mw and its mostly used in the communicationwindow near1310nm and1550nm, this kind of fiber collimator could not be used inthe1064nm laser output system, for1064nm single mode fiber collimator, which corediameter is about6.2um, the collimator can meet the power handing is limited by thesurface layer of laser damage threshold.The collimator is an important optical fiber communication optical passivecomponent, is mainly used for beam transmission system, used in optical coupling,wide used in optical circulator,optical isolator,optical switch. In recent years, with thedevelopment of high power fiber lasre, high performance and low cost, high powerbecomes an important trend of the development of collimator,which have greatmarket potential.The thesis first introduces the research background of collimator, the mainapplications and the situation of domestic and foreign development. Secondly it givesus the principle of collimator,pigtail fiber and lens. The third part introudues thestructure of this kind of high power collimator, gives the design principle of variouscomponents. The fourth part introduces the specific manufacture process of thecollimator. The fifth part introduces the test method of collimator and the reliabilitytest.Finally, this thesis gives an explanation on the structure and the theory of thedevice which has been applied with this high power collimator. Meanwhile, it lists thedisadvantages of this kind of high power collimator and suggests the direction forfurther research in the future.
