In recent years, wireless networks have been widely deployed, especially theapplications of ZigBee and WiFi. In the same environment, the mutual interferencebetween ZigBee and WiFi is becoming serious. ZigBee and WiFi share the2.4GHzISM band, but ZigBee have lower transmission power. Therefore, how to avoidmutual interference and improve the link performance of ZigBee and WiFi willbecome a more important issue. In this thesis, a new method of interference avoidance in wireless network usingcontinuous frequency allocation is proposed. The method is short for FAVOR.FAVOR is based on analyzing the research status of interference avoidance and thechannel characteristics. In the FAVOR, the positions of the nodes are calculated. Thenidle frequencies of current environment are allocated to the nodes according to theirpositions. For the nearby nodes or links, their frequencies should be far away, and thereverse is also true. The method leads to lower interference and improves thecommunication performance of wireless network. This thesis will apply FAVOR to the ZigBee network and evaluate itsperformance. The results show that using FAVOR can improve the utilization of thescarce spectrum resources. Whether there is WiFi interference in the currentenvironment, the communication performance of ZigBee network used FAVOR isbetter than the one used the default channel allocation. Therefore, using FAVOR willeffectively avoid WiFi interference in ZigBee network.WiFi channels are very similar to ZigBee channels. After archiving a continuousfrequency allocation in ZigBee, WiFi channel and ZigBee channel are almost thesame. So FAVOR can apply in WiFi network to avoid interference. Its performancewill be evaluated. The results show that using FAVOR will avoid interference in WiFinetwork.
