With the continuous development of various types of wireless communicationtechnologies, there is more and more attention to flexible wireless network technologyfor access to the Internet, which becomes part of people’s lives. Currently a local areanetwork evolved from single-hop wireless access technology occupies the mainmarket. Because of the single-hop transmission limitations, such as the short of thetransmission distance, relying on the central node, etc., wireless Mesh network hasbeen constantly developing and improving to better meet people’s needs forlarge-scale, high-bandwidth wireless access.Wireless Mesh Networks provide multi-hop access, which not only improves thecoverage of a wireless network, but also increases the flexibility of deployment, reduces network deployment and maintenance of hegemony, and improves therelatively high bandwidth. Wireless Mesh Network is currently still in the stage ofextensive research. New technologies are constantly introduced and continue to beimproved to meet the new requirements.Wireless technology aims to provide service for data transmission. With theincreasing amount of information in the network, the quality of service such as higherbandwidth and lower delay, becomes more and more important, which presentschallenges to wireless transmission technology. In this paper, we adopted the802.11eprotocol based Wireless Mesh Networks for transmission of video in these particularscenarios, studied congestion control mechanism for multi-hop nodes, congestioncontrol for edge nodes, and cross-layer queue allocation mechanism for videotransmission in wireless Mesh network and proposed mechanism to improve theperformance of IEEE802.11e protocol in WMN for video transmission. Finally, wehave done extensive simulations and the results show that our proposed mechanismscan effectively improve the performance of multimedia transmission in wireless meshnetwork.
