Recently, as the improving of smart cities, Internet of Things technology isapplied to all aspects of society in people’s daily life, such as intelligent community,intelligent bus, intelligent security, science and technology. All of these smartapplications bring us convenience and comfort. Taking care of the disabled andelderly is the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation. With increasing ageing of thepopulation in our country, people with mobility difficulties, including disabled isincreasing, how to take better care of them becames a problem to be solved. In such abig background, smart cities are brought the unprecedented and rich ideas for us.As a people’s tool instead of walking, Wheelchair for whom are unable to movefreely, plays an important role in their life, even has been part of their body. Aimingto the typical abnormal state monitoring exposed when take care of wheelchair users,we design a real-time intelligent sensing and wireless system. In the system, a remotehealth care sensors and a wheelchair make up a mobile health monitoring platform.In this thesis, our work is focusing on devices layer and connect layer from thethree-tier network architecture of Internet of things technology application. In termsof devices layer, it contains sitting posture detected, wheelchair overturned, heart ratemodules using the modular thought. And we design the hardware circuit, sensorselection and realizing. For the disabled and elderly people, abnormal posture for along time is not only a negative impact on their health, but also often leads to fallingfrom a wheelchair. We use the pressure sensor to pecieve pressure distribution when aman sitting in, then infer the slant direction and slant of the upper part, which preventand warn falling. In the system we implement a method of seven posture recognition.In order to improve the accuracy and timeliness of judgment, it proposes a detectionalgorithm for wheelchair overturned based on threshold of the acceleration signalmagnitude vector (SMV) and slant angle, and determines the threshold through a lotof experiment. Through processing of the infrared sensor pulse signal, analog anddigital two stage filtering based on extrema method, it realizes the pulse cyclecalculation then infer the heart rate. In terms of connect layer. Firstly, by comparingthe several common ways of short distance wireless communication, it chooses the Bluetooth4.0protocol module. In order to realize the data gathering and upload, itdesigns the sink node with Arduino DUE as motherboard, at the same time realize theGPS module data parse and update the location information for a wheelchair.Through developing the Android Bluetooth communication program and calling theWebservice of cloud platform, it succeeds to upload health data to the health careservice platform.The system plays an exemplary role on engineering applications ofIOT technology in smart city construction, it enhances the response to the health andemergency first aid levels of the disabled and elderly people with mobility difficulties,improves the people’s quality of life.
