Insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) is widely used in wind power generationsystem. As the core device, high-power IGBT module failure may lead to off-grid, causingthe entire power system failures, and even cause severe power outages which could makeeconomic losses. In wind power grid which contains large capacity, IGBT’s reliability andlifetime prediction have close relationship with the stability of the entire grid. Therefore,the reliability of IGBT module is particularly important.Large numbers of experimental data show that long-term excessive junctiontemperature or frequent temperature change may be the main cause for IGBT device failure.Through the analysis of its thermal model simulation, we can speculate the internal junctiontemperature by measuring some special points of its outer sealing material surface.Recently, neither in domestic nor at abroad the on-line monitoring of the IGBTtemperature is still no universal standard product. As the wind generator has complexinternal structure and special working conditions, it is difficult to get a reference value ofthe temperature data without disturbing the existing internal environment.This topic has designed a wireless temperature measuring device for IGBT which cantransmit, collect and process data wirelessly by using nRF9E5(a true single chip systemwith fully integrated8051compatible microcontroller)and DS18B20(a kind of digitaltemperature sensor).The system will be implemented according to the functions andfeatures a variety of electronic devices, the hardware circuit for a modular design. Thesystem consists of two parts, the temperature measuring and sending part and the receivingpart. The article analyzes the circuit module using features and connection circuit principle,completes the circuit design of the hardware interface circuit.In the aspect of software design, this topic completes temperature measurementprogram, wireless transceiver program and a serial communication program by using themaster controller KeilC programming language.This topic also conducted a series of experiments, testing the temperaturemeasurement system operating conditions and assessing its accuracy and sensitivity. Theexperimental results show the system is stable and reliable, able to meet the measurementneeds. The device has simple hardware structure, low power consumption, easy maintenanceand high reliability. The use of wireless communication in temperature signal transmissioncompletely solves the problem of wiring and makes it able to adapt its working condition.
