Nowadays, with the rapid growth of domestic population, the number ofschool-age children is increasing fast. Kindergartens, as national formal preschooleducation institutions, are faced with the challenges of children’s informationmanagement. While Early Years Centers are the first place to establish archives forchildren in China, their work are based on manual handing of paper archives, whichbrings difficulty in maintaining secrecy and calculating information. Meanwhile,kindergartens cannot receive children’s information in time, leading their work suchas new children’s registration inefficiency.To tackle these problems, this paper analyzed and designed an informationmanagement system for preschool educational institutions. From the perspective ofEarly Years Centers, kindergartens and children’s parents, this system gave acomprehensive requirement analysis of the organizational structure, departmentfunctions, business process and so on, and achieved requirements modeling throughuse case modeling, process modeling and data modeling based on the structure of B/S.Designed in the LAMP architecture, the system implemented functions such aschildren’s archives, tuitions, classes, courses, report generation and messagesmanagement. Moreover, this system guarantees security and data confidentiality.This information management system realized the informatization for preschooleducational institutions, and can improve the management efficiency of early yearscenters. It can also reduce the manpower and financial resources for kindergartens andoptimize the registration service. Besides, this system added the role of parents tomanage the children’s information. Parents can also conduct educational knowledgecommunication and homework management in the system, so that they will knowabout children’s information in the shortest time, and communicate with preschoolsmore often and directly.
