Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is one of the most promising informationtechnologies in the21stcentury. As the core technology of Internet of Things (IOT), RFID ischanging the ways people manufacturing and living by widely applied to many areas such asnational defense, logistics, intelligent manufacturing, intelligent city, etc. The inspection ofthe antenna has been an important part of the tag production chain as the preparation qualityof tag antenna in RFID affects physical and application performance of tag. This paperelaborate a visual inspection system for defects of tag antenna which detect tag antennadefects automatically and well applied and verified. Here are the main research works:1. The overall scheme of antenna defect detection is designed. For the high precision,diversity and complexity of antenna image, the demand of antenna quality detection isanalyzed, proposed the accurate indicators of visual orientation precision and burr defectdetection precision and accomplished the selection of core hardware parts in the visualsystem.2. A matching algorithm based on the normalized cross-correlation is proposed. Based on thevisual antenna inspection process, the algorithm has the advantage of over the traditionalgray matching algorithm both in speed, accuracy and stability for the rotation within smallangle (less than5°).3. A set of automatic antenna detection equipment control software is designed. The softwaretakes the visual inspection system for the core. The overall design, encapsulated thehardware interface and designed the human-interactive module are all included.4. The effectiveness of the algorithm and system in the software are verified. Multiple RFIDantennas are detected in actual equipment for antenna testing, the operating efficiency andstability are verified.The antenna visual orientation precision and burr defect detection precision reaches to0.05mm and0.12mm, the method and system has been proven on the equipment which satisfythe demands of visual inspection accuracy. This research helps improve antenna qualitydetection efficiency, which has positive significance to the development of RFID industry.
