The urgency of this work is determined by the wide use of broadband communication systems. An existing tendency to localize information transmission inside small territories led to a creation of personal communication networks. The ultra-wideband technology is treated as one of the major technologies for such networks.It is supposed that personal networks will be used in many areas of human activities and can be used for critical information transmission.That’s why it is necessary to investigate the potential of ultra-wideband communication networks when they are used to transmit information in specific conditions. Various working conditions (a rural area, a city territory, an industrial zone, a closed premise) differently influence on a signal propagation. Therefore, in many cases, in order to make a communication system work efficient in a given conditions it is necessary to do a proper choice in favor of some communication system structure.There are a lot of types of ultra-wideband systems. They could be differentiated by a shape of transmitted signals types of modulation used way of signal reception and other parameters.Thus, the goal of the Project is to design a method for various ultra-wideband communication system solutions comparison in a given operational conditions and their technical parameters estimation.The method developed in this Project is based on the ultra-wideband communication system performance estimation. A bit error rate parameter is taken as a measure of a system performance. Based on this measure, such technical parameters as data transmission rate and communication distance can be calculated.First of all, we need review the principles of ultra wideband transmitter and the basics of ultra wideband receiver, all of those sorts of UWB signal power constraints and transmitter structure; followed by research on ultra wideband signal propagation channel, channel and IEEE channel model to describe the phenomenon of different.Then, under the given conditions, method of calculation method on the performance of ultra wideband communication system evaluation and technical parameters, as the working principle of the method, create ultra wideband system simulation model. These models use two types of ultra-wideband impulse shapes to transmit data:Gaussian monocycle and Gaussian doublet. These models represent three types of ultra-wideband receivers:energy receiver, correlation receiver and transmitted reference receiver. The receiver and transmitter models integrate with IEEE communication channel model. Finally, it helps us create simulation model used to compare performance of different types of ultra-wideband communication systems in an industrial zone conditions. Based on the simulation results and judgments about the most effective system we can make a conclusion.This method simulates an ultra-wideband system operation and allows us to estimate its technical parameters (a bit error rate, a data transmission rate and a communication distance), so we can choose the better option before the system implementation.Therefore, the method allows to reduce costs connected with communication system design, estimate its performance and chose the best implementation option for the given conditions.
