One of the key technologies optical time division multiplexing and high-speed all-optical network is the generation of ultrashort light pulses. In optical fiber communication systems, the clock for the optical network provides a unified time basis, to ensure all-optical network to send and receive data accurately. So the high-speed clock signal source is an important part of the whole high-speed optical fiber communication systems.The short pulse after pulse compression input to mode-locked lasers, the use of rational harmonic mode-locking technique can get high-speed and stable optical signal. However, this solution requires a short pulse source. To obtain short pulse sources will increase the difficulty. And clamping the laser cavity length is needed to ensure stability of the device which can obtain a stable output.All-optical differentiator can output short pulse directly, which is simple structure and easy to implement. It can easily get high-speed optical clock signal. In this paper, the waveform of the optical signal is a square wave which input optical differentiator. Through all-optical phase locking differential, it output high-speed short pulse.All-optical differentiator is mainly composed of MZ interferometer and phase compensation means. MZ optical interferometer is important of all among differentiator unit. In this paper, based on all-optical differential pulse process a detailed analysis of the principle is put. And it proved that under the conditions of phase compensation it can generate stable optical pulses.Furthermore, in laboratory experiments based on the differential optical pulse generation is successfully carried out and it produces optical pulses of5GHz. The results show that after modulating1550nm continuous lazer the frequency of output square wave pulses is2.5GHz. After the process of optical differentiating a short period of the pulse light output is200ps. It demonstrated that the frequency of the obtained pulse light is5GHz.
