Policy-based routing (PBR) is a data packet routing forwarding mechanism which is more flexible than the routing that based on the target networks. Policy-based routing can meet certain conditions for the packets, perform the specified operation. For the network configuration management of policy-based routing, command line(CLI) operation and simple network management which based on SNMP protocol are the most widely used approaches. However, with the complexity improving and heterogeneity increasing of network, these two methods become increasingly unable to meet the needs of next generation network management. Firstly, due to the complexity of configuration method and too much reliance on equipment, command line operation is inefficient and unable to meet the requirements of batch configurations. Secondly, SNMP-based simple network management operation is not reliable which cannot guarantee the security of information and unable to adapt to the requirements of the large network configuration.To improve the current situation of configuration management, The IETF approved a configuration management protocol called NETCONF in December2006. As a XML-based protocol and what is proposed in order to solve the problem of the current network configuration of network configuration management, NETCONF protocol has obvious advantages in many ways, such as unified management, safety and reliability, user interactivity and so on. Combining with the characteristics of NETCONF, the dissertation designed a kind of NETCONF-based for policy-based routing configuration system.This dissertation first introduces the current status of network configuration management. Then the content of the policy routing configuration, management object library model and NETCONF related demand has carried on the detailed description. Moreover, a NETCONF configuration management system for policy-based-routing is proposed on the basis of the configuration management object library model and key operations of the NETCONF plug-in processes are also described below. At last part of the dissertation, test samples and test ideas are given with a brief analysis of the test results, the summarized opinions and the prospects of the future shows at the same time.
