As the fast development of world industry economy, air pollution has become a critical issue. Investigation on air quality is not good enough, we need to monitor and forecast air pollution in real time, and we need to deal with the current problems as well as control the future risks. We developed a decision making support system that could be applied in air quality measurement and forecast for cities. Decision makers could forecast the air pollution levels by setting appropriate scenarios based on current conditions. The system is based on Eclipse Version Helios and MySQL5.0.This thesis introduces and compares the main methods for calculating the air pollution levels (e.g. AERMOD, CALPUFF, etc). We adopted CALPUFF as our method in the system. This thesis introduces the calculation principles of CALPUFF and its3core modules: CALMET Weather Module, CALPUFF Smoke Diffusion Module, and CALPOST module. In the first stage of this project, the author designed the database, developed the module which converts the original documents to standardized CVS files, and the data importing module. In the later stage, the author configured CALPUFF.INP file, implemented the CALPUFF calculation model, which was used to calculate the air pollutant density. At last, we introduce the designed functions of this system, and conduct an case study to demonstrate the specific process and results. And proposed plans for future work.
