Research On The Negative Information In The Reports That Highlight The Themes Of The Times

The propaganda work must follow the important principle of highlighting the themes of thetimes and spreading positive energy, which is the guide for journalism practice in the newsituation. The reports that highlight the themes of the times help to build a harmonious society,pass on Chinese traditional virtues, foster healthy social trends as well as purify socialatmosphere. In recent years, how to improve the quality of the reports highlighting the themes ofthe times has become a topic of discussion in academia and industry. This article will focus onhow to reduce the negative information reported in the reports that highlight the themes of thetimes.Negative information is characterized by being subjective, breaking with convention ortradition and disturbing readers’ thinking, which will influence the final communication effect,interfere with people’s understanding of the reports and offset the positive energy delivered inthe reports. The real intention of the reports highlighting the themes of the times is to promotesocial harmony and safeguard social justice. But the negative information in some reports hasobstructed the attainment of the desired communication effect.This paper has four important parts as followed: First, it gives a definition of the concept ofreports that highlight the themes of the times as well as that of negative information. The paperanalyzes the features of reports that highlight the themes of the times. We find that the relevantreports usually conform with the main trends of the times, spread positive messages and take astrong report tone. In addition, the paper also describes the types and characteristics of negativeinformation. Second, on the basis of the content classification of news reports, this paper makesa concrete analysis of five classes of news reports, such as current affairs reports, economicreports, thereby elaborating the mode of the existence of negative information. Distinguishingthe different types of negative information conducts to the improvement of the capability ofidentifying and defending negative information.Third, the paper elaborates the harms of thenegative information in the reports that highlight the themes of the times, which includeoffsetting the positive energy of reports, reducing the credibility of the media and causing theMatthew effect. The existence of negative information should be attributed to a variety ofreasons. From the perspective of communicators, the reliability control of information by someinformation managers and the first communicator is lax, resulting in some negative information.From the perspective of audience, the news reports that highlight the themes of the times usuallycause their psychology reactions of learning from the report, feeling confused about theinformation or holding on a hostile attitude towards the news. From the sociological macroscopicview, factors from all aspects of policy, traditions and society are also conductive to theexistence of negative information in varying degrees. Fourth, this paper discusses how to avoid the negative information and puts forwards some suggestions for improving the quality of thereports that highlight the themes of the times, which include that we must adhere to the accuracyof news, make full use of dialectics and strengthen the sense of responsibility. There is still roomfor improvement for the reports that highlight the themes of the times in grasping the correctguidance of public opinion, keeping in close contact with the masses and improving the style ofinterview and writing.
