With the development of power electronic technology, a variety of nonlinear and time-varying device are being used more widely, which seriously caused the problem of harmonic pollution and reduced the quality of power grid. Active Power Filter (APF) is recognized as the most effective means to suppress the harmonic among a series of harmonic compensation device. Therefore, the research of key technology has become hotspot. Because of traditional control methods can’t solve the problem of time delay cause by digital control process, the harmonic prediction method has been proposed. This paper mainly researched the realization of predictive control strategy in APF.First, the paper researched the basic theory of APF. Build a mathematical model of three-phase three-wire shunt APF under the coordinate of a-b-c and d-q system; Analyzed the harmonic detection technology based on instantaneous reactive power theory; Confirmed the method of synchronous rotating d-q coordinate transformation.Then, this paper briefly introduced the traditional current tracking control algorithm, and analyzed the affection of time delay on the compensation performance of APF. To improve this situation using adaptive predictive control for dynamic tracking performance and pre-sampled data predictive control algorithm for steady state compensation precision of APF. Simultaneously, giving the implementation block diagram of Integrated apply these two kinds of forecast to improve compensation performance of APF as a whole. And build a simulation on MATLAB platform to verify the correctness and feasibility of the above conclusion.Finally, the paper researched the application of harmonic prediction in APF. Introduced a100A three-phase three-wire shunt APF experimental prototype structure and hardware circuit design method, then researched the proposed predictive control algorithm on this prototype platform. The experimental results show that adaptive predictive and pre-sampled data predictive will improve the performance of APF and demonstrated its application value.
