High-power solid-state laser is playing an important role in many fields,such as industrial processing, health care and scientific research. It has a bright future. How to accomplish the high-power and high beam quality simultaneously is the difficulty for scientists at home and abroad. It has been a hot research at the same time. This paper focuses on the key techniques of high power Nd:YAG slab amplifier. The key techniques includes high stability and high beam quality seed laser, premagnification technology, high quality amplifier module, MOPA amplification technology of Nd:YAG slab. The main work is discribed as follows1,Experimental investigation of the seed source of Hundred-watt-level TEM00mode and premagnification technology.This paper studies the properties,as average-power, stability, the beam quality, spectrum and waveform of pulse,of the rod seed source and the fiber seed source. According to the experiments comparing the properties, this paper regards the fiber laser as the seed source of MOPA finally. The beam quality M2of the fiber laser is1.14and the average power of it is48.3W. Adopting premagnification, the output power of laser increased to115W with substantially constant beam quality M2=1.2.2, Experimental investigation of high power and high uniformity of Nd:YAG slab gain module. The simulation and experimental study of the cooling uniformity of the pump slab gain module, thermal uniformity and optical uniformity. This paper developed a high-power and high gain amplifier module slab uniformity. When the pump average power is6.8kW, the maximum average output power of the laser is2.75kW, slope efficiency is approximately42%.3, Experimental investigation of high power slab MOPALDPSSL. MOPA’s theoretical model and numerical simulations is founded. According to it, by using two identical Nd:YAG laser modules and the technology about controlling the beam quality and the adaptive technology, a master oscillator power-amplifier (MOPA) system with output power of3.9kW at1064is demonstrated.
