Wireless sensor network is a self-organizing network. Instead of requiring fixednetwork support of the traditional network, the wireless sensor network is amulti-hop wireless network and constitute by the widely distributed sensor nodes. The advantage of the Wireless sensor network is that the construction speed is veryfast and the recoverability is also very strong. Its characteristics are very much likelarge-scale, self-organizing, dynamic, reliability, data-centric, integrated, with a densearrangement of nodes, collaborative approach to perform tasks etc. The workingenvironment of the Wireless sensor network is very different with the currenttraditional network. The former can do work to perform monitoring or informationcollection in the areas that unfit for human like earthquakes, typhoons, outer spaceetc. Of the emerging as a modern network, the Wireless sensor networks’development speed is very fast. Researching on Wireless sensor network has becomea hot topic in the field of information technology. As one of the most important technology of the wireless sensor network, technical positioning has been concerned by the growing number of researchers. The positioning of wireless sensor networks is that the self-organizationnetworks provide the node location information by a specific method. Thisself-organizing network localization is divided into node positioning itself and targetlocation. Node positioning itself is a process that to determine the coordinates of theposition of nodes in the network. Target location is to determine the coordinates ofthe location within the network coverage of a time or a goal. The node localizationalgorithm that presented in this dissertation belongs to node localization. We use areference node to perceive the strength of the signal emitted by the unknown nodeat any time in the process of moving. Then we can locate the node by the algorithmthat given in the text. The algorithm can quickly narrow down the area of the unknown nodes and quickly reduce the regional area of the nodes in order to reducesearch time by extracting a large number of the positions and signal strength of themoving reference node on the movement route. In this thesis, the performance of this algorithm is also analyzed and evaluated. In the same environment and with the same number of experiments, signalattenuation empirical model based algorithm is relatively low compared with theconventional centurion location algorithm on the positioning accuracy. But, it alsohas its own advantages in quickly narrow the positioning section. For reducing theused time for searching for the unknown nodes, this algorithm is also excellent. With the rapid development of wireless sensor networks in the defense, securityand other fields, as one of its main technology, node localization algorithm is also inits period of rapid development. About the applications of the wireless sensornetwork on positioning technology in the future society, we have made someprospect. Despite the limited vision, the direction of development that we can thinkof may be very narrow. For positioning technology itself, its’ development potential isendless by means of the development of wireless sensor networks and its ownadvantages.
