As to the existence of abnormal units within thermal imagers, blind pixels are inevitable in infrared images, causing impact on follow-up target detecting and recognizing. Under these circumstances detection and compensation for blind pixels are needed, while common digital image processing cannot afford the real time under certain scene. To solve this problem, research below are done:In this paper, first the principle of blind pixel correction algorithm based on background prediction is analyzed, a kind of improved method is given,afterwards the platform for hardware system is introduced in detail, eventually blind pixel correction is realized in Verilog HDL to be loaded into the hardware platform for operation.Analysis to the result shows the most advantages of present background prediction is integrated in the improved one, thus ideal compensation for blind pixels in different shapes and sized are realized.
