A Method Of Network Selection Based On Qnality Of Experience(QoE)

Quality of Experience (QoE) is a subjective measure of a customer’s experiences with a network service or an application. It consists of user, service and network, and expresses user satisfaction both objectively and subjectively. How to improve the QoE of users is one of hot issues in which operators are interested. A good QoE will retain existing users, attract new users, and bring about the increasement of operator’s revenue.First, this paper introduces the developing situation of heterogeneous wireless network (HWN), focuses on the fusion of cellular mobile communication network with wireless local area network (WLAN), and analyzes the network selection method in the current academia and industry. Second, through analyzing the differences of QoE between individuals, we get a basic conclusion that a low level of quality of service (QoS) can also obtain a high level of QoE for some users, and then we design a method of network selection and an algorithm for down-link power control based on QoE. Finally, through analysis and simulation verification with MATLAB, the results show that this method can increase the revenue of network operator, and improve the QoE of users as well.
