At present, many developed eastern region, the introduction of remote automatic meter reading technology, the manufacturing cost is relatively high, needing real-time power supply at the same time, it is easy to appear error when sudden stop leakage, and also can’t keep up with the management of the modern residential demand.This paper gives a way to use image processing technology to complete the meter reading system is devised, and the system the basic train of thought and related functional modules are described in detail. To comprehensively consider the demand of modern residential area, each apartment just install a system, through the water meter on the camera image, save meter reading meter reading personnel enter the user home this process. The system is based on the principle of visual inspection technology, the introduction of DSP image processing technology to complete the water meter image acquisition and recognition. Compared with the existing automatic meter reading technology, the system run faster, more secure operation, in terms of accuracy, stability and parameters such as power consumption also has more obvious advantage.Image preprocessing, collection and identification, data display and transmission is the core part of the system.
