Water is one of the important natural resources for human, and good meter readingsystem can not only save water, but also provides a lot of convenience to the users. Inthe current of meter reading system, there are still some problems. Such as artificialmeter reading, not only has low efficiency, but also bring a lot of inconvenience to theusers. It not only affects people’s normal life, but also will lead to the phenomenon ofthe home invasion robbery. Using the existing far-distancemeter reading system,because of its maintenance in large quantities, the price is high, and need real-timecharged work, easy to cause problems such as power leakage remember, the promotionhas the certain difficulty.In this paper,a kind of multiple recognition system for the water meter’s readingbased on DSP is put forward. A design and a implementation of the main functionalmodules of this system are given. The system need not change the existing residentialstructure, we can installed a camera above the water meter, it is very convenient in theimplementation of meter reading system construction reform.The system belongs to themode of passive remote meter reading.Using the embedded technology and visualinspection technology, the system collectes the picture of water meter’s numbers andrecognizes them, then displaies and transfers the readings of multiple water meters.Experiments show that the system has characteristics of lower cost, high speed, safety,energy saving and stability.It can recognize the readings of water meter accurately.Using this system, meter reader need not read the meter from house to house, but in oneplace, send the meter readings in a storage device.Word wheel water meter reading recognition system is divided into optical imagingmodule design, image acquisition and recognition module, multiplex module, datalegend module and man-machine interface module. This design mainly completed therelated hardware circuit design, software program embedded, the machinecommissioning and off-line processing and realize the meter reading function. This paper first introduces the system of the overall design and the related points ofthe system, then introduces the design and implementation of the main functionalmodules of this system according to section. Finally, in order to improve the system, Iput forward some relevant suggestions for the improvement.
